The devastating wildfires that raged across Texas and Oklahoma on Thursdayare evidence that rain is desperately needed. Rain will return this Easterholiday weekend but may not be entirely beneficial.A storm impacting the Southwest today will press eastward this weekend.

Spotty thunderstorms will erupt over eastern New Mexico and western TexasSaturday afternoon. Rain and thunderstorms will spread over more of thesouthern Plains Saturday night into Sunday.

The storm will drop a substantial amount of rain, too much rain in somecases. Flash flooding could occur. This includes where the wildfires justburned acres and numerous homes.

Severe thunderstorms will deliver the rain from Oklahoma and Arkansassouthward this weekend. Damaging winds, hail and tornadoes could accompany thedrenching downpours.
