It might be hard to top last year's finale with a tornado warning and thunderstorm for wow value, but this year's Soundset festival will still pack quite a bang.

The May 26 day-long hip-hop festival outside Canterbury Park in Shakopee will once again feature Atmosphere for a headliner -- making up for the group's weather-cancelled set last year -- plus a couple of bona-fide hip-hop legends, Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes. Also on the bill are: Mac Miller, who sold out the State Fair grandstand last summer with fellow Pittsburgh rap star Wiz Khalifa (thanks in big part to their local exposure at Soundset); plus Tech N9ne, Aesop Rock and local favorites Brother Ali and P.O.S. (the latter of whom is also juggling a gig at the Sasquatch fest near Seattle that weekend). Local newcomers on the bill include Greg Grease, Haphduzn, Meta and the unfortunately rare female hip-hop act, the Chalice.

Rhymesayers Entertainment, which co-organizes the sixth annual event with concert promoter Rose Presents, announced the lineup this morning after wrapping up its third annual Welcome to Minnesota Tour last night at First Avenue. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 11 a.m. through www.Ticketweb.com or Fifth Element record store in Minneapolis. The past couple years at the fest have drawn close to 20,000 fans.

Last year's Soundset might have been the biggest ever for star power, but only after-the-fact: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis performed a half-year ahead of their ascent to No. 1 with the novelty hit "Thrift Shop," and Kendrick Lamar had also yet to release his major-label debut, which went on to be one of the year's most acclaimed hip-hop records. Perhaps there's a breakout act in waiting amid this year's lineup. Here's the full shebang:
