After shocking the music industry once again in August when its new album shot to No. 1, Iowa's shock-rock veterans Slipknot will kick off a U.S. tour at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center on Jan. 23. Tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. for $39-$45. The masked thrash heroes will be joined by prog-metal favorites Coheed and Cambria and labelmates Trivium.
Last seen in town in 2005, Slipknot has been on hiatus while frontman Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root focused on their other band, Stone Sour, and drummer Joey Jordison toured with Korn. Their fourth album, "All Hope Is Gone," was their first No. 1. They have been mostly performing in Europe since its release.
