Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn is returning home to Minnesota for a meet-and-greet at an event promoting female empowerment.

The alpine ski racer and St. Paul native will appear Friday at the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis for the Lindsey Vonn Foundation's first speaker series event.

Author Rosalind Wiseman is the featured speaker. Her New York Times bestseller, "Queen Bees and Wannabees: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Boyfriends, and the New Realities of Girl World," inspired the film "Mean Girls." Wiseman is an outspoken advocate for bullying prevention and ethical leadership. Her talk will focus on helping "parents, educators and young people successfully navigate the social challenges of young adulthood."

Vonn will be on hand to meet attendees and pose for photos.

Still in its first year, the Lindsey Vonn Foundation raises funds for athletic programs and confidence-building activities for girls. Vonn is "proud to bring her passion for female empowerment to all the girls in Minnesota who are chasing their dreams," according to a news release.
