Part of Whistleblower's objective is to report on actions government agencies and licensing board take against the companies and individuals they regulate. Our intent is to provide, as a matter of record, a glimpse into the decisions these agencies and boards make. The majority of the decisions we post are ones to which the party being disciplined has agreed. The licenses of six real estate professionals were suspended in June by the Department of Commerce after a state fund was used to satisfy unpaid court judgments against them. The Real Estate Education, Research and Recovery Fund is sustained by license fees and compensates people financially harmed by a licensee's fraudulent, deceptive or dishonest conduct. Victims can apply for compensation from the fund only after other means of collection have failed. The licenses of the real estate professionals may be reinstated after they reimburse the fund for twice the payout amount plus 12 percent annual interest. The licensees and payouts: Shelley Beliveau, Real Estate Salesperson, $116,972.65. Ida Mae James, aka Ida M. Johnson, aka Ida Mae Bywaters, Real Estate Broker, $58,722.73 (two separate payouts). Glen Marsh, Real Estate Salesperson, $42,557.87. Alexander Oladipupo Lakanu, Real Estate Broker, $29,627.04. Fred Machana, Real Estate Broker, $19,500 (two separate payouts). Tawfiq Khawaja, Real Estate Broker, $17,000. Read these and other June enforcement actions by the Department of Commerce here.
