Boy meets bear, and laughter ensuesIf you've seen the trailers for "Ted," you're hip to its high-concept premise: A boy named Johnny Bennett gets a cuddly teddy bear for Christmas and, after he makes a wish, the bear begins to talk. Twenty years later, Johnny (Mark Wahlberg) and Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) live together as roomies, generally avoiding the bothersome business of growing up.

Making his live-action directorial debut, MacFarlane, the wisenheimer behind the animated TV series "Family Guy," has created a universe based largely on the same humor of that show.

The DVD (Universal, $30) includes commentary, a making-of documentary and an unrated version. The Blu-ray ($35) adds deleted scenes and a featurette.

Island adventure awaits in 'Far Cry 3'There is a lot to chew on in "Far Cry 3" ($60 for Xbox 360, PS3; rated Mature) and, luckily, it's mostly meat and no gristle: luscious scenery, a uniquely twisted and enjoyable main villain, and enough side missions and activities to take up a couple of days' worth of gaming time. This full-feature first-person shooter brims with excellent content.

You play as Jason Brody, as he and a group of friends on vacation get scooped up into a war among pirates, drug runners and tribal factions. While survival and rescuing your friends remain your primary focus, "Far Cry 3" features a rich and expansive open world. No, really, it's huge. The islands are littered with side missions and activities ranging from shootouts with gangs to hunting rare animals.

Some multiplayer modes exist, and although they might initially appear shallow, start playing Firestorm or messing around with the multiplayer map editor and you'll discover that more treasures await.

"Far Cry 3" is a must-own game.
