Shopping for love With Valentine's Day just around the corner, local jewelry designer Karin Jacobson has made wearing your love on your sleeve or your ears affordable and adorable. These laser-cut wool felt earrings ($14 to $16) and cuff bracelets ($22) are part of a limited edition collection. Sales and events There are plenty of opportunities to shop for your sweetheart this week. On Friday and Saturday, shop a Chamilia trunk show at Scheherezade Jewelers (Galleria, 3525 W. 69th St., Edina, 952-926-2455). The company is known for charm-like beads that allow you to customize bracelets and necklaces.

While at Galleria, you might shop StyledLife's sale. It starts Thursday and runs through March 6. Almost all accessories in the store are discounted from 20 percent (new spring 2010 and Valentine's goodies) up to 70 percent. Advice, as always, is free.

Macy's is celebrating Valentine's Day with the Sweetest Tweets. Use Twitter to send a message to your loved one through Feb. 14 using #sweetesttweets. The tweets will be judged and a daily winner will score a diamond pendant with a grand prize of a three-stone diamond ring. Also at Macy's, through Sunday, customers wearing some shade of red in honor of American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day (Friday) will receive a 20 percent discount on some merchandise (if it weren't a bit confusing, it wouldn't be Macy's). If red isn't your color, you can get the same deal by donating $2 to get a Go Red For Women lapel pin. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association's campaign. You might also swing by the Mall of America on Saturday for the "Hearts for Fashion" show (3 to 5 p.m., Macy's Court) to hear survivors' stories and view red fashions. Also on Saturday, at Macy's Southdale, shop new spring looks from INC and save 20 percent off of apparel and shoes.

Shop the fall and winter sale at OPM (the Shops at Excelsior & Grand, 3700 Grand Way, St. Louis Park, 952-567-7399). Through Feb. 14, get 50 to 80 percent off end-of-the-season merchandise, including outerwear by Diane von Furstenberg, cocktail dresses by Alice + Olivia, handbags by Valentino and Mulberry, and accessories by Alexander McQueen.

This week also brings ladies' night at VState (Calhoun Square, 3001 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls., 612-823-4699). From 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday, enjoy beverages and appetizers and deals, including 65 percent off of winter sale and 25 percent off regular items. The shop is determined to sell as much of the sweaters, tops and denim as possible before moving across the hall next month.

This weekend, enjoy a show with some fresh names on the fashion scene. The University of Minnesota will host "(in)sight," the 42nd annual senior student fashion show on Saturday.
