Gophers running back Shannon Brooks missed Tuesday's practice with a foot injury and is being evaluated. Coach Tracy Claeys said he'd know more and give an update when he meets with the media next on Saturday.

Brooks ran for 709 yards on 118 carries (5.96 average) with seven touchdowns as a true freshman last season.

The Gophers were also without their projected starting left tackle Garrison Wright at Tuesday's practice. Wright was in an orange non-participation jersey, but Claeys said that's something Wright will do throughout the season.

Chad Fahning was with the first team at left tackle, but he appeared to suffer an ankle injury, and then his replacement, Nick Connelly, got shaken up late in practice.

Linebacker Cody Poock, who had 99 tackles last season, was in an orange jersey. Claeys said it was an ankle injury but it didn't sound serious.
