Twins update
This is the first game of a six-game road trip that will take the Twins to Tampa as well. They are 3-3 on the road so far. They are 3-0 against the Royals after last week's sweep at Target Field, a turnaround from their 4-15 record against Kansas City last year. They went 2-7 in Kauffman Stadium in 2013. … Nolasco gave up one run in eight innings against Kansas City last weekend, and Correia gave up three runs in seven innings. … The Twins entered Thursday 9-for-10 on stolen base attempts.
Royals update
Kansas City is 4-2 at home. The Royals started Thursday tied for last in the AL in runs scored, and they had scored more than four runs only twice. ... They had hit only four homers; Texas (seven) and Baltimore (nine) were the only other AL teams with fewer than 10. … Chen was scratched from his start Thursday because of tightness in his left glute muscle. … CF Lorenzo Cain went on the 15-day disabled list because of a left groin strain after trying to beat a throw to first Wednesday. Jarrod Dyson started in center on Thursday at Houston. … Rookie Ventura's fastball has been clocked at more than 100 miles per hour six times this season and is normally 97-99 mph.
