Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk reiterated lack of legislative support for a new soccer stadium despite Minneapolis recently being named winner of an MLS franchise.

Bakk will meet Tuesday with Minnesota United FC team owner Dr. Bill McGuire, who leads an ownership group that includes Star Tribune and NBC Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor and the Pohlad family, owner of the Minnesota Twins.

"What my office was told was that they're coming in to give me an update now that they've received a commitment from the league. That's all i know," said Bakk, DFL-Cook.

There are no votes for any stadium funding, however, said Bakk.

"A lot of stadium fatigue around here. I could offer on the floor an amendment, and I dont think it would get a vote. If that's what we need to do to get their attention, I guess we could do that, just to show them I'm not joking about this. There's just isn't any support here for another stadium," Bakk said after a Senate floor session.
