Law enforcement warned drivers to buckle up or get a ticket, and they followed through on their promise.

Police handed out more than 7,233 citations to motorists who didn't wear their seat belt and 213 tickets to drivers who didn't place children in proper restraints from May 23 to June 5 when "Click It or Ticket" campaign was underway.

Among the most egregious violations was a mother of a 4-year-old who had her son on her lap helping her steer the car, the Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety said.

More than 300 law enforcement agencies participated in the annual extra enforcement effort. Here are the agencies that tagged the most unbelted motorists.
