Former St. Olaf men's hockey coach Sean Goldsworthy has been named the boys' hockey coach at Minnetonka High School.

Goldsworth, a graduate of Minnetonka, replaces Brian Urick, who coached the Skippers for 10 seasons.

Goldsworthy, the son of Minnesota North Stars standout Bill Goldsworthy, coached the Oles from 1997-2016. After playing for St. Olaf, Goldsworthy played one season of minor-league hockey. He then earned a master's degree from St. Cloud State while serving as an assistant coach at St. John's.

"Sean is an extremely knowledgeable coach and is connected to the game of hockey at many levels,'' Minnetonka Activities Director Ted Schultz said in a new release Thursday. "But what I am most excited about is Sean's commitment to a transformational coaching philosophy for the students of Minnetonka High School."

In addition to serving as hockey coach at St. Olaf, Goldsworthy taught biomechanics in the exercise science major and was an Oles assistant baseball coach for 15 seasons.

A meet-and-greet for Goldsworthy and Minnetonka players is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Friday at the school. He is expected to meet with parents, community members and youth hockey families starting at 4 p.m.
