A slightly edited news story from St. Cloud State's hockey information director: The #14/15 St. Cloud State University men's hockey team (14-7-3) earned its sixth consecutive victory with a 3-2 decision at #17 Quinnipiac University (13-9-1) on Saturday. This marked SCSU's third consecutive weekend sweep, and it provided the Huskies with a sweep in their first-ever meeting against the Bobcats. (SCSU is up to No. 12 in national polls, Quinnipiac has dropped out.) Freshman forward David Eddy (Woodbury) had two goals in the game, including the game winner at 14:16 of the second period. Both squads skated to a 0-0 tie in the first period before Eddy got the offense clicking for SCSU with an even-strength goal at 1:39 of the second period. He was assisted on the goal by junior forward Tony Mosey (Prior Lake) and junior forward Garrett Roe (Vienna, Va.). This was Roe's team-leading 16th assist of the season. Junior defender Brett Barta (Moorhead) pushed SCSU's lead to 2-0 with a goal at 4:22 of the second period. Freshman forward Ben Hanowski (Little Falls) and fellow defender Sam Zabkowicz (Greendale, Wis.) each had assists. Eddy scored the eventual game winner at 14:16on a power play goal with assists from Hanowski and sophomore forward Jared Festler (Little Falls). This was Eddy's fifth goal of the season but his first game- winner. The second period goal barrage was needed by the Huskies as the Bobcats rallied in the final period. Quinnipiac broke the shutout at 1:34 of the third period on a goal by Scott Zurevinski. Quinnipiac then made it 3-2 with a power play goal by Jean-Marc Beaudoin at 14:57 of the third period. SCSU freshman goaltender Mike Lee (Roseau) made 11 saves in the third period and a total of 35 saves. Lee earned his sixth win of the year and lowered his GAA to 2.47 and raised his save rate to 91.7%. On the other end, QU goalie Dan Clarke had 12 saves and played for two periods before being relieved by Mathieu Cadieux, who mad six saves in the closing period.%
