In an effort to take a bite out of poverty, People Responding in Social Ministry (PRISM) sponsored a "Taste of the 'Burbs" gala at the Metropolitan Ballroom in Golden Valley. The event featured hors d'oeuvres from 13 local restaurants as well as cocktails and mocktails. A three-piece band played jazz while guests — dressed in cocktail attire or "thrift shop chic" — perused the silent auction. PRISM helps individuals and families in the suburbs move toward self-sufficiency through counseling and education.
