Andrew Towne chronicled his seven-week journey up Mount Everest in words and photographs. He arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, on April 6 and reached the summit at 4:35 a.m. on May 25. Towne, 35, of Minneapolis, had been to the world's tallest peak before. He was at base camp on the 29,029-foot mountain on April 25, 2015, when a magnitude 7.8 earthquake devastated the camp and the country. Thirty-six people were killed at camp. In Nepal alone, another 9,000 were killed and 22,000 injured. Here are a few photos he took on the mountain in 2017.
