Burnsville pulls out OT victory, advances in 2A

CLASS 2A

• SECTION 3: Paige Skaja scored both Burnsville goals — including the game-winner on a breakaway in the second overtime — as the top seeded Blaze beat East Ridge 2-1 in the semifinals on Saturday.

• SECTION 4: Paige Voight scored twice for Cretin-Derham Hall in the Raiders' 3-1 victory over Tartan in the first round. The Raiders outshot the Titans 37-10.

• SECTION 5: Amy Schlagel netted four goals as Blaine blanked Rogers 7-0 in the semifinals. Schlagel finished with six points. The Bengals outshot Rogers 59-18.... Behind two goals from Jamie Fairbanks, Centennial knocked off Champlin Park 5-1 to advance to Tuesday's semifinal. ... Cristi Oliver scored two goals as Mounds View outshout Anoka 42-16 on its way to a 3-1 win. ... Samantha Donovan and Alex Toupal scored two goals each as Irondale topped Spring Lake Park 4-2.

• SECTION 6: Caitlin Reilly scored a goal in each period for Benilde-St. Margaret's as the Red Knights jumped all over North Metro 8-0 in the first round. Reilly and Kelly Pannek each finished with six points. … Minnetonka beat Armstrong/Cooper 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. Presley Norby had three points for the Skippers, who scored five consecutive goals after trailing 2-1 early in the second period. Minnetonka outshot Armstrong/Cooper 52-11.

• SECTION 7: Forest Lake scored first, but its lead lasted only seven minutes. Andover went on to score five consecutive goals to win 5-1 and advance to the section championship game. Sierra Langlie had three goals for Andover.

• SECTION 8: It took four overtimes, but Megan Milroy's goal finally sealed the 3-2 victory for St. Cloud, which beat North Wright County to advance to the semifinals. North Wright County led 2-0 until St. Cloud scored two third period goals to force overtime.

Girls' basketball

• ST. PAUL CENTRAL 46, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S 43: Rayna Sherow led a second-half charge for the Minutemaids as Central held on to beat the Red Knights for its eighth victory in nine games. Sherow finished with a team-high 15 points. Grace Coughlin scored 19 points for the Red Knights, who lost the matchup even though three Benilde players scored in double figures.

• MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN 68, EAGAN 66 (OT): Natalie Holdahl knocked down a mid-range jump shot in the waning seconds of overtime to give the Millers the nonconference victory. Iowa recruit Chase Coley hit a three-pointer at the buzzer at the end of regulation to send it to overtime. Coley finished with 35 points for the Class 3A, No. 4 Millers.

BOYS' BASKETBALL

• DELASALLE 79, CRETIN-DERHAM HALL 40: Reid Travis had 25 points and 14 rebounds as the Islanders thumped the Raiders on the road. Sam Neumann was held to just six points for the Raiders as running time was instituted with nine minutes left in the second half.

• PARK CENTER 69, OSSEO 66: Isaiah McKay couldn't be stopped. The senior guard scored a game-high 28 points as the Pirates upset the Class 4A, No. 3 Orioles at home. Isaac Matthews and Amani Hooker each contributed 13 points to help hand Osseo its second loss in as many days.

• MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST 82, NORTHFIELD 79 (OT): Four players finished in double figures for the Lakers, as Southwest outlasted Northfield in overtime. Lanick Knight led Southwest with 19 points while teammate Cam Ross added 18. Luke Harris scored 34 points for Northfield.

Boys' hockey

• SPRING LAKE PARK 9, COOPER 4: Trey Rooney's hat trick for Cooper was quickly countered when Spring Lake Park broke open a tie game with six consecutive goals in the Panthers' North Suburban victory. Rooney finished with four goals for the Hawks.
