Sarah Burnham win State Match Play Championship

Sarah Burnham defeated Anna Laorr 4 and 3 in the final of the Minnesota Women's State Match Play Championship at Deer Run Golf Club in Victoria on Wednesday.

Laorr, the former Gopher playing out of Hazeltine National Golf Club, was 1 up after three holes, but Burnham had five birdies in six holes — winning four of them starting on No. 6 — to go 3 up. Burnham, of Rush Creek Golf Club, will be a sophomore at Michigan State.

Leigh Klasse, of Keller Golf Club, edged Brenda Williams, of Windsong Farm Golf Club, 1 up in the senior division final.
