Sam Smith performed his Oscar-winning "Spectre" song "Writing's on The Wall" at Sunday's Academy Awards, but it turns out he "hated every minute" of it.

"It was the worst moment of my life," Smith told the BBC on the way into the Vanity Fair after party. "Singing was horrible. I hated every minute."

It seems as if Smith didn't have that good of a night despite beating Lady Gaga's "Til It Happens to You" for Best Original Song, as the British singer had a couple public speaking gaffes at the award show as well.

Although Smith was applauded by some for dedicating his Oscar to the entire LGBT community, he did get called out for forgetting all the gay men that had won before him, including Elton John, Bill Condon and Dustin Lance Black. Smith accidentally misread a quote from Sir Ian McKellan, who said in January that "no openly gay man has ever won the [Best Actor] Oscar," and therefore Smith said in his acceptance speech that "no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar," period.

Smith dug himself deeper into a hole when a reporter called him out for not being the first openly gay winner, to which Smith quipped in the press room that he "should date" Howard Ashman, the actual first openly gay man to win an Academy Award in the Best Original Song category.

Black called out Smith on Twitter, and also asked the singer to "stop texting" his fiancé, Olympian Tom Daley. However, Black clarified on Monday that he was just joking, as Daley and Smith are friends.
