With all the news about current "stars" who get up on meaningless awards shows and grope each other with all the passion of someone testing a melon for ripeness at Cub, and all the reality show stories about people you wouldn't invite into your house unless you hosed them down with bleach first, it's nice to read something about performers like this, who are, alas, dead. But that's part of the story.

If Martin saw him live, it was probably while he was working at the park as a young man. If you're wondering what Disneyland looked like in the early years - and don't want to wade through a documentary narrated by Leonard Maltin or that guy who always does the voice-overs for everything Disney, from DVD preview menus to the spiel on the bus that takes you from the airport to the hotel - there's a charming home movie shot in 1956 by a fellow whose family won a trip to the Magic Kingdom.
