Utility bills for Minneapolis homeowners will go up about 2.44 percent per month next year if Mayor R.T. Rybak's budget proposal is adopted.
Rybak's budget, posted online yesterday, increases utility fees by $2.07 a month or $25 a year, bringing the average annual cost per home to $1,040.
The increase is significantly less than the 6.6 percent increase the Council approved last year (Rybak wanted 4.4 percent). Last year's change amounted to a $5.28 monthly difference.
