Ridnour, Lee still out

Wolves open preseason Wednesday in Fargo

The Wolves will open the preseason against Indiana in Fargo Wednesday night without Luke Ridnour (back) and Malcolm Lee (groin).

Of the two, Ridnour is the closest to returning. Coach Rick Adelman said Ridnour probably could have practiced today; the point guard did some shooting on his own after practice ended. Lee, meanwhile, continues to put himself behind, Adelman said. Ridnour could play in one of the two games this weekend.

As for Wednesday's preseason opener: Adelman said he will probably go with a starting lineup of J.J. Barea and Brandon Roy at guard, Andrei Kirilenko and Kevin Love at forward and Nikola Pekovic at center. The starters, Adelman said, would play about half the game.

Adelman is looking at a rotation of about 10 or 11 players. Rookie Alexey Shved will get significant minutes. He will enter the game as a backup to Roy at shooting guard, but also get significant minutes at point guard.

"I'm curious what we're going to see from our team," Adelman said. "I do think we have the capabilities of being very good offensively. But we have to make stops. That's what we want to find out. And usually, in exhibition games, you have the tendency to not move the ball as well to start with. it will be a real teaching weekend for us."
