To replace the departed Jim Thome, the Twins will reinstate outfielder Jason Repko from the 15-day disabled list in time for tonight's game against Detroit.

Repko has been out since Aug, 10 because of bursitis in his left shoulder, He took a cortisone shot for the discomfort, then headed to Class AAA Rochester for a rehab assignment. Repko went 4-for-14 in four games there with a homer and two RBI.

With Thome traded to Cleveland (for a player to be named later) Twins manager Ron Gardenhire will have more flexibility with the designated hitter spot. Perhaps Joe Mauer, who is battling a sore neck, will be able to get on the field more that way,

For more from Gardy, he will be on KSTP at 12:35 p.m. today. That's also the deadline for the Twins to work out a trade with Jason Kubel, who was claimed off waivers earlier this week. If the Twins are unable to make a deal, they likely will pull Kubel off waivers and he will remain with the club.

Joe C will have more from the park this afternoon.
