ON TV

You might see your neighbor's home get a makeover on a new DIY series "Rehab Addict," premiering at 9 p.m. Thursday. That's because many of the show's episodes were filmed in Minneapolis. Host Nicole Curtis, an interior designer with a passion for restoring old houses, oversees a crew that fixes up historic homes in disrepair. The show promises drama -- Curtis has to deal with typical old-house headaches -- and thrifty decorating tips: She uses flea market, reuse center and discount store finds in the restorations.

If you have roses that aren't hardy in Minnesota (hybrid teas, grandifloras, floribundas, etc.), it's time to cover the base of the roses with soil and straw or bury them using the Minnesota tip method. (For more info, go to www.mn4h.com and search for "Minnesota tip method.") Hardy shrub roses don't need to be buried, but most of them will come through winter better if you mulch them with a few inches of leaves.

STAR TURNS

The latest celebrity-branded furniture venture is a line of ready-to-assemble office furniture from supermodel turned brand name Kathy Ireland. Ireland has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Bush Furniture to develop office products, including entertainment, organization, storage and home furnishings. The product line is the latest in the stable of products to bear Ireland's name, from home decor to jewelry. The office collection is expected to hit stores before fall 2011.

Ireland has lots of company in the celebrity branding arena, from Sean "Diddy" Combs' Sean John masculine bedding line at Macy's -- expected in stores this month -- to Beyoncé's upcoming bedding collection featuring European-inspired prints and colors to be sold under the House of Deréon name. Supermodel Cindy Crawford launched her bedding collection for J.C. Penney last year, following actress Eva Mendes into the bedding biz. Also coming from fashion icons: Iman Home, a home furnishings line from the single-named model, starting with fabric available to Calico Corners and Calico Home stores this fall. And apparently the Kardashian sisters aren't sufficiently overexposed: Their home decor line is expected to become a reality in 2011.
