The Quote

"I felt like I was playing for the Wild, to be honest with you. Pretty intense."

— Wayzata defenseman Hank Sorensen on playing in the state Class 2A championship game at Xcel Energy Center in front of 19,000-plus fans.

Memories

Two of our favorite memories from the tournament:

• Eden Prairie junior forward Casey Mittelstadt turned in a performance for the ages by scoring 12 points, using his otherworldly speed to shred opposing defenses and drop the collective jaws of hockey fans around the state.

• The future looks good for crafty St. Paul Academy sophomore forward Devlin McCabe. He scored twice, including the game-winning goal, in the quarterfinals.

Attendance

Saturday's Class 2A session (third-place and championship games) drew an announced crowd of 19,655. Class 1A attendance was announced at 8,497.
