Richfield police are out with a warning to residents in the wake of nine home burglaries in the city this month.

In the most recent cases, thieves have broken windows and glass on back doors to gain access to homes on Bryant, Knox and Logan avenues on the west side of the city. The crimes occurred during the day and thieves made off with jewelry but passed on electronics, police said.

There also were two burglaries in apartment buildings on Penn Avenue. In one case, cash was stolen. Nothing was taken in the other, police said.

On the city's east side, three garage burglaries have been reported in the vicinity of 18th and Bloomington avenues. Bicycles were taken in all three cases as well as small amounts of cash and miscellaneous items left in vehicles, police said.

The crooks entered unlocked garage doors in two of the incidents. In the third, the thieves used a garage door opener that was taken from an unlocked vehicle.

Police said they don't have descriptions of any suspects.

Residents are being reminded to leave lights on or a television or radio playing when they are away and to watch and report suspicious activity, vehicles or individuals in neighborhoods.

Anybody with information about any of the burglaries is asked to call Richfield police at 612-861-9800.
