Quick update from Tuesday practice

House of pain?

September 30, 2009 at 4:39PM

Greetings.

I think you'll like this. I was over at practice. While the Gophers warm up they usually have music playing over loudspeakers trucked onto the field.

Tuesday, the first tune cranked was House of Pain's "Jump around." If you don't know, that song is tradionally played at the end of the third quarter at games at Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium. The fans jump around and get the whole place rocking -- literally.

So there's no question why that was being played at practice Tuesday. Just another drop in the bucketfull of motivation being gathered for this game. It should be noted that wide receiver/punt returner Bryant Allen displayed some very good moves to the music.

A couple other notes:

--Matt Carufel and D.J. Burris were swapping early snaps at right guard.

--Michael Carter and Traye Simmons were both taking first-team snaps at cornerback.

Wow. You guys are hard on an aging sportswriter. It was Traye Simmons. My bad.

The push to get facts to editors at night so they could run on the press and be distributed in the morning inspired desperate measures and, predictably, profanity.
