With 11 goals and five assists in five games, Conners is off to one of the fastest starts in the state. The Blazers captain has committed to play at Gonzaga University.

Q: What has been going right for you and the team (4-1) thus far?

A: We had high hopes coming into the season, and everyone is working really hard to try and achieve the goals we set for ourselves. Our coaches have had us well prepared, and my teammates have set me up with some fabulous passes.

Q: Your most memorable moment as a high school athlete so far?

A: The 2016 state hockey tournament. Getting to play at the Xcel Energy Center, and to get to see NHL locker rooms was an unreal experience. Our team last year (St. Paul United) was as close as ever, and it was a blast getting to share that special experience with each of them.

Q: What are your goals for this school year as an athlete?

A: I would love to make it to state in both soccer and hockey. I think that being able to play at U.S. Bank Stadium and to get to play at the Xcel one more time would be really cool.

Q: If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be?

A: In high school soccer I would probably make the play a little more physical, same with hockey, but not that much in hockey because the refs tend to let that go more than soccer.
