Leah Zak is in her senior year as a member of Farmington's girls' soccer team. Here is a closer look at Zak:

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "Madagascar 3." My family and I love the Madagascar movies.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Leader; role model; dependable.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? Making the high school varsity soccer team as an eighth-grader with my sister Hannah, who was a senior captain.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... nervous and intimidated by all the high-schoolers. I was only in eighth grade, so they all seemed so much bigger than I was.

What is your favorite meal before a game? My favorite pregame meal is a Subway sandwich. A foot-long sub on Italian herb and cheese bread, spicy Italian with pepper jack cheese, pickles and mayo. Very delicious.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? At the beginning of the week, I always make myself a game plan of how I am going to handle everything and figure out when I am going to do my homework and for how long and what days I will have time for soccer and for my friends and family. It's a challenge but I always get everything done on time with a little bit of free time left over.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? I would change that all sports had their games at different times and different days. That way, every game would have fans and you wouldn't have to decide which game to go to and watch, and if you played a sport you could watch your friends play in their games and help support your school.
