Cole Peterson, a shortstop, is trying to help Eagan's baseball team rebound from a 3-8 start. Here is a closer look at Peterson, a senior who also played football:

The best movie I've seen in the past year: "Drive" starring Ryan Gosling.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me: Quiet leader; determined; easy-going.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are … "Good To Go" by Yelawolf; "When I Come Around" by Green Day; "N.Y. State of Mind" by Nas.

How did you get started playing the sports you now play in high school? My dad really loved both baseball and football, and we actually play the same position in each sport: shortstop and wide receiver.

At my first varsity practice, I felt … ready to go and excited for the opportunity.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? Beating Burnsville 9-6 in a nine-inning thriller in the section playoffs last year. [Burnsville was the Class 3A defending state champion].

I know I have an edge on an opponent when … he starts talking smack. Then you know they're trying anything to get in your head, but it really psyches them out when you don't say anything back.

How do you balance school and sports? I try to get all my work done during school. It definitely is a grind to do well in both.

What is the best sports advice you have ever received? "Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in all of sports, so don't get upset if you aren't hitting well."
