A firm believer in the magical powers of certain numbers, Prince is once again going with lucky 21 as the amount of shows he plans to do in Los Angeles this year. Minnesota's Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will return to his West Coast stomping grounds for a series of shows starting with one concert just announced at the Forum for Thursday -- yes, this Thursday! -- and then two more April 21-22. Details on the rest of the dates (and locations?) on his "21 Nite Stand" tour are yet to come. For those hometown fans who can hop on a plane to L.A. with a few days' notice, tickets to the first three go on sale Tuesday morning.

While he hasn't made a big impact in new record sales or radio play for over a decade, Prince still doesn't have to worry about getting word out on his concerts. His "Welcome 2 America" shows on the East Coast mostly all sold out right away. He also had no trouble filling the seats for a similar 21-night stand around London in 2007. Sure to add to the demand in L.A., he and promoter Live Nation are promising that at least 85 percent of the tickets sold there can be had for a mere $25 (fees included).

They may not all be winners, but you gotta love many of the ideas this guy still manages to cram down the throat of the music industry. You also have to believe that he's going to finally come home for a Twin Cities show at some point after the L.A. run, perhaps around his June 7 birthday. Or there's always 11/11/11.
