Gophers at a glance: Tuesday's 4-1 victory over No. 2 Notre Dame completed an undefeated nonconference season for the Gophers (14-3-3, 6-3-3 WCHA). They went 8-0 to meet coach Don Lucia's goal of improving the team's record outside the league. Their next ambition is to move up from sixth place in the WCHA. At Alaska-Anchorage in November, the Gophers earned three of four points with a 4-0 victory and 2-2 tie. That series started a 9-1-3 run that pushed them back to the No. 1 national ranking. The Gophers are 9-1-1 at home and undefeated in their past six games. Goalie Adam Wilcox (13-2-3) ranks sixth nationally with a goals-against average of 1.60 and has a .929 save percentage. He leads a defense that is surrendering 1.80 goals per game to rank No. 4 in the nation, while the Gophers' offense is scoring 3.65 goals per game to rank third.

Seawolves at a glance: Averaging only 1.94 goals per game, the Seawolves (3-11-4, 1-10-3) are the lowest-scoring team in the WCHA. Their lone conference victory came against St. Cloud State on Dec. 1; since then, they have been swept by Minnesota State Mankato, Minnesota Duluth and Wisconsin. The Seawolves scored only six goals in those six games and have been shut out four times this season. Junior forward Matt Bailey and freshman forward Blake Tatchell lead UAA with 11 points each, while sophomore forward Scott Allen has scored a team-high seven goals. Juniors Rob Gunderson and Chris Kamal have split goaltending duties most weekends. Gunderson has a 2.70 goals-against average and .896 save percentage in 10 games, Kamal a 3.24 GAA and .900 save percentage in nine. Sophomore defenseman Derek Docken of Northfield has played in all 18 games and has two goals and two assists.
