1. Can Ledwein keep New Prague on top?

New Prague senior Taylor Ledwein looks to extend the Class 3A girls' individual crown honors to four consecutive years for the Trojans program. The Bradley recruit won the tournament by four strokes a year ago. Former teammate Kenzie Neisen won the title in 2014 and shared the honor with Sarah Burnham of Wayzata in 2013.

2. Boys' metro youth movement

The top boys' metro players returning from the 2015 state tournament field in all three classes are relatively young. Mounds Park Academy sophomore Brock Bliese shared the Class 1A crown. Juniors Reece Sanders of Blake and Paul Stankey of Providence Academy finished one-two in Class 2A, while Blaine freshman Caleb VanArragon took fourth place in Class 3A.

3. Detroit Lakes senior chases mark

Katie Smith, a senior at Detroit Lakes, has her sights set on becoming the first five-time state champion. Smith was the Class 2A medalist in 2012 and 2015 and shared the title in 2013 and 2014. Katie Detlefsen of Minnehaha Academy was the first four-time state champion, winning the Class 1A crown from 2004-07.
