ROCHESTER, N.H. — The New Hampshire-based family of a journalist who disappeared in Syria nearly eight months ago is planning a global moment of silence and prayer.
James Foley was last seen Nov. 22 in northwest Syria. He was contributing videos to Agence France-Press for the media company GlobalPost, which reported that it found strong evidence he is being held by the Syrian government.
Foley's family in Rochester says the moment of silence will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 25. Diane Foley says it will be a worldwide event, since her son has many friends and supporters across the globe.
Foster's Daily Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/14VRB2J ) the Foleys chose the date because they named their son for St. James, one of the 12 apostles. His feast day is July 25.
