Power has been restored along the Blue Line and light-rail service is returning to normal, Metro Transit officials said.

Trains had been running 3 to 5 minutes late after substations that power the line between 32nd Street and 42nd Street had failed. The outage lasted for about 40 minutes.

Trains are returning to their normal schedule and are running about 10 minutes apart, said John Siqveland, a transit agency spokesman.

During the outage, Metro Transit brought in generators to power the line until the problem was resolved, Siqveland said.

The outage also impacted crossing arms at intersections along the 10-block stretch. Metro Transit employees were manually raising and lowering the arms as trains pass by. Some crossings were blocked off to traffic.

Metro Transit will work with Xcel Energy to determine the reason for the issue.
