Sarah Potomak scored the game-winner with 1 minute, 3 seconds remaining in overtime, giving the third-ranked Gophers women's hockey team a 3-2 victory over Minnesota Duluth and a weekend sweep of the fourth-ranked Bulldogs at Ridder Arena.

Potomak also scored the winner with 5:40 left in the Gophers' 4-3 victory Friday night.

Lara Stalder twice put the Bulldogs on the board in the first period, netting an unassisted goal at 3:55. Cara Piazza got the equalizer on a Gophers power play at 7:21, but Stalder, the reigning WCHA Offensive Player of the Week struck again 50 seconds later to give UMD a 2-1 lead.

Sophomore goalie Maddie Rooney and the Bulldogs weathered the Gophers' 27-8 shots on goal advantage for the first two periods, before Minnesota finally drew even again 2:08 into the third period on a power-play goal from Kelly Pannek. But neither team could put away the game in regulation, and Rooney posted 14 saves in the final period.

"It was one of those nights where standing on the bench in overtime, [I was] just thinking regardless of what happens, how proud we are of our team for the way they battled and gutted it out, and found a way to get one there in the third and extend it to overtime," coach Brad Frost said.

"Obviously we carried the play and had a lot of great chances; it was just a matter of finding a way to get that puck in the net."

Sidney Peters made 15 saves as the Gophers outshot the Bulldogs 45-17. Rooney, of Andover, had 42 saves for UMD, giving her 74 in the two games.
