Remember these names as the possible next coach of the Timberwolves:
Tom Thibodeau: An intense, defensive whiz fired from Chicago last year. The Bulls have faltered without him, failing to make the playoffs this season under Fred Hoiberg. Thibodeau started his NBA career as an assistant with the Wolves from 1990-1992 and was the Bulls' coach from 2010-2015.
Scott Brooks: The former Oklahoma City coach (and Wolves guard) knows what it's like to raise two young stars. He had Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook before being let go by the Thunder after last season.
Jeff Van Gundy: A longtime Flip Saunders confidant and TV analyst, he's been out of coaching for nearly a decade. Van Gundy coached the New York Knicks from 1996-2001 and Houston Rockets from 2003-2007.
Tom Izzo: Flip Saunders likely came closer to hiring him than anyone knew two years ago, but would he leave Michigan State now? Izzo, 61, has been the Spartans coach since 1995 and this would be his first NBA experience.
Kevin Ollie: A young up-and-comer and a former Wolves guard, who played for 11 other teams during an NBA career that ran from 1997-2010. He has been the head coach at Connecticut since 2012 and led the Huskies to the NCAA title in 2014.
