Here are three thoughts after the Twins' come-from-behind-win over the A's

1. Josh Willingham really needed that: Opponents are pitching him tougher after got off to that hot start. His last homer was on May 8, but he got a fat pitch to hit from Brian Fuentes and drove it 398 feet and into the A's bullpen for the winner. Maybe it's what he needs to jump start another hot streak. "Anytime you can come from behind and win a game like that, it's great," he said. Those are the wins that can kind of springboard you a little bit, so hopefully it'll happen, and we can continue it tomorrow."

2. Gardy must have had a hunch: Twins manager Ron Gardenhire definitely went with his gut tonight with his bullpen moves. He brought in set-up men Jared Burton and Glen Perkins when the team was trailing when there are other relievers for those situations. But it worked out. Perkins now has thrown in four of the last five games and won't be available for Wednesday's game.

3. Cole De Vries struggled: He walked five, gave up two hits and hit a batter in five innings. The leadoff hitter reached base in each of the first four innings. He needed double plays to get out of the first two innings and some fortunate pitching after that. "He's got to get back to attacking the strike zone," Gardy said. De Vries will get at least one more start.

3A. Span the Walk-Man: Denard Span came through in the ninth with a big walk to set up the inning. He fell behind 0-2 in the count but worked a walk off of Brian Fuentes to put two men on base. Span walked three times on Tuesday.
