This demanding seven-game, 13-day trip has just two more days and one more game to go after Wednesday's 116-100 loss at San Antonio.

The Wolves got lapped in the first quarter, down 32-16 by quarter's end, and trailed by as many as 23 points in the fourth quarter.

They still walked out of AT&T Center having won the season series over the Spurs for the first time since 2000, but it sure didn't feel like it after they got thumped by a Spurs team that hadn't played since Saturday and the Wolves played their fifth game in seven days.

Here's the game story from tonight, detailing how ol' Tim Duncan outdueled Kevin Love in their matchup.

A few quick things before I go tonight with a very early flight to OKC awaiting me.

* Rick Adelman compensated for Nikola Pekovic's absence by going small all night. He said he did so because the Spurs play small, with Duncan and Tiago Splitter their onyl real big men. He started Derrick Williams and Love beside each other and then went solely to Anthony Tolliver off the bench.

Tolliver has gone from pine to a regular role here in the last week after nearly being traded to Portland just a week ago.

Tonight, he played while Darko! and Anthony Randolph sat all night.

Before the game, Adelman bluntly answered a question I asked me whether he still has any faith left in big Darko! and he said, "He hasn't done anything to really give you a lot of faith that he's going to go out and do the job. He's gotten himself out of shape. He hasn't been as drive as you'd like so when a situation like this happens, it's time for someone to have their opportunity and get back in there. Today, he's going to get his chance and Anthony Randolph is going to get his chance and we'll see if any of those guys can step up."

That quote is included in the night's notebook that you can find here.

* You'll also find in the notebook that renown surgeon Richard Steadman repaired Ricky Rubio's ACL and his lateral collateral ligament (LCL) after Steadman discovered that second tear after Rubio arrived in Vail, Colorado, for the surgery.

Not sure on how that affect his recovery time, which is somewhere in a fairly wide frame from six to nine months.

I hope to have an answer on that Thursday.

* Michael Beasley again just played limited first-half minutes and sat out the second half for the second consecutive game because of that painful sprained big toe.

He said he didn't play Monday's second half because his foot stiffened during that 40-minute halftime ceremony.

This time, the Spurs didn't retire Bruce Bowen's jersey until after the game, but Beasley again sat after playing 11 first-half minutes because the toe swelled and just hurt too much.

Afterward, Beasley said he's going to need to take a few days off to let the toe heal.

"We need him to get it right," Love said.

You can hear him talk about it (hopefully) in about five minutes of postgame video interviews with Beasley, J.J. Barea, Love and Adelman that should be posted here by morning.

* Barea had his first double-double of the season and his second consecutive double-digit assist game with an 18-point, 11-assist night that included four turnovers.

He and Ridnour again played together a bit tonight, for about six minutes, after they finished Monday's victory at Golden State on the floor together.

That's it for tonight.

I got an early flight to OKC and will blog back at you later from there.

Not sure yet if Wolves will practice Thursday or not. There's not many bodies or fresh legs left to do so. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if Adelman, who has opted for rest over practice at almost every turn this season, decides to give them the day off.
