The Twins will recall righthander Lester Oliveros in time for tommorrow's game. They will make room for Oliveros on Thursday after they get the results of P.J. Walters' MRI exam.

Walters said after the game that he probably won't pitch five days from now. If he needs to be out longer, he could be placed on the disabled list. The Twins currently have three starters. Liam Hendriks is expected to start on Saturday. Anthony Swarzak or Jeff Manship could get a spot start.

Oliveros is 1-1 with a 4.08 ERA at Class AAA Rochester. He began the year at Class AA New Britain.

Here are three quick thoughts following the game:

1. The Twins' rotation: It's really a mess now. We all expected Liam Hendriks to come up from Rochester and start on Saturday. Now they'll likely need another starter. Perhaps Jeff Manship or Anthony Swarzak will get a shot. "We'll get it straightened out once we find out what's going on with Mr. Walters," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. Scott Diamond is their best starter right now. Who saw that coming out of spring training?

2. The bats can make things interesting. The offense didn't give up after falling behind early. The Twins now have confidence that they can get back into games they fall behind early in. The fans really got fired up late in the game when the Twins closed it to 9-8. You expected them to find a way to score that last run to tie it up. It just didn't work out.

3. Fans: Someone threw Jim Thome's home run ball back on the field. Are you kidding me? I watch fans beg for baseballs the moment they arrive at that park. The scour the stands during batting practice. They ask players to throw them balls. They fight each other for foul balls during games. Then, when an opposing team hits a home run, they throw the ball back. Unbelievable. In this case, it was home run No. 606 in Jim Thome's career. That might be the last ball he ever hits, but the ball is thrown back. Wow. I know the ticket buyers will be upset. But that's the ball you hold onto and get to meet Thome.
