Another clunker by the Twins. A 10-5 loss to Kansas City. Here are three quick thoughts:

1. Bad inning for Doumit. Ryan Doumit became the first Twin since 1973 to commit three errors in one inning. He misplayed a fly ball, mishandled a ground ball single and threw wildly. Doumit said he feels comfortable in left and is ready to play there tomorrow if asked. "I feel extremely comfortable," he said. "Tonight was just one of those nights. I took my eye off the ball. When you take your eye off the ball, bad things happen. The other one, ball kind of came up on me. I'm going to have days like this. It's part of the learning curve. It's part of all that. It's embarrassing, but I'm going to learn from it and go out and get em tomorrow." Doumit was in left as the Twins take it easy with Josh Willingham, who has battled a sore hamstring. Doumit deserves credit for being stand up after a tough night.

2. P.J. Walters struggles again: P.J. Walters has a 12.00 ERA in two starts since coming off the disabled list. He looked pretty solid for four innings then couldn't get through the fifth. He has little room for error, but is pitching like someone who needs a couple more starts to find his groove.

3. The 2013 schedule: I'm not going to complain about how the schedule makers appeared to cut the Twins no slack with the 2013 schedule. They have a lot of factors to weigh before putting together a schedule for 30 teams in a year in which there's a World Baseball Classic early and expanded playoffs late. My beef is with making the series with the primary rivals two, two-game series. The league is missing the boat here. Those series are well-attended and should not be shrunk from six to four games. And two-game series stink anyway.
