Postal Service consolidating two Farmington locations into one

Decision will save money and lead to more efficiency, the USPS said.

A post office facility in Farmington will close and its carrier operations and retail services will be folded into a different location in the south metro suburb, the U.S. Postal Service announced Wednesday.

The Postal Service said in a statement that its final decision followed "careful consideration of all comments and concerns expressed, as well as appeals submitted."

By consolidating into the new carrier annex facility at 113 Elm St., the Postal Service said it "is able to operate more efficiently and save money" while offering ample parking and providing the same services. The office at 216 Oak St. will close at a future date.

The relocation will not change the address or numbers for post office boxes.
