Some Blue and Green Line stations will shut down from Friday night until Monday morning for routine maintenance and construction.

Green Line trains will be replaced by buses from Stadium Village station at the U through Target Field station. Buses will ferry Blue Line riders between Franklin Avenue station and the baseball field, Metro Transit said. The shutdown comes before the Twins' home opener Monday. The lines will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. on Monday.

The replacement buses can be boarded along either rail line. Most buses will pick up and drop off near LRT stops, but in some cases, the bus stops are a block or more away.

"Buses run on similar schedules as trains, but can take more time. Customers are urged to plan accordingly," states the release.

Howie Padilla, Metro Transit spokesman, said the lines are being shut down to allow for construction of the pedestrian bridge going over the LRT tracks between downtown and U.S. Bank Stadium. The tracks will also be inspected to check for damage and to make any repairs.
