BRUCE ALLEN TRIBUTE
Saturday: To honor the late Minneapolis guitarist and art director Bruce Allen (second from right), his beloved band the Suburbs will reunite for a big celebration. Singer/guitarist Beej Chaney, who lives in Los Angeles and did not attend Allen's funeral in December, will be there; Steve Brantseg and Slim Dunlap will sit in on guitar. Allen designed the Burbs' iconic logo, and his guitar defined the rhythms for Minnesota's best rock band of the 1980s (besides Prince). Also performing will be punk vets Suicide Commandos and X-Boys, Allen's part-time band for the past couple of decades. (7:30 p.m. Sat. $10-$12. First Avenue, 7th St. and 1st Av. N., Mpls. 612-338-8388.) JON BREAM
