Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty did not compete with the other candidates who went to Duluth for the Republican convention. U.S. Rep. Tim Walz withdrew in Rochester in pursuit of party backing but will continue at the polls.
With Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson running for governor, U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison filed to run for the AG's office. Mike Hatch, who served two terms as attorney general, also filed his candidacy for his old job.
A Swanson-Nolan gubernatorial ticket adds more drama to a DFL primary that already promises to be hotly contested. With the endorsing conventions behind them, both parties are focused on the next chapter of the campaign.
