The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association announced Tuesday Monday that they are supporting DFLer Tarryl Clark in her bid to unseat Sixth District Rep. Michele Bachmann.

The MPPOA is the state's largest law enforcement union and backed Republican Norm Coleman in the 2008 Senate race.

Their endorsement of Clark isn't exactly suprising, however: They have supported every Bachmann challenger since the Stillwater Republican first ran for office. They did endorse Bachmann's Republican predecessor, Rep. Mark Kennedy.

"The MPPOA has nothing but praise for Tarryl Clark," said union executive director Dennis Flaherty. "Not only does she listen when we go to her with a concern, but she seeks us out for advice on public safety issues as well."
