Edina police are asking for the public's help in locating two men who robbed a Walgreens pharmacy Monday night and made off with $8,000 in prescription drugs.

Two suspects hopped the counter inside store at 4916 France Avenue S. around 6:45 p.m. Monday and ordered employees to get out of the way as they filled plastic totes with drugs, mostly OxyContin, said Sgt. Kevin Rofidal.

The men then left on foot and were last seen running east into Minneapolis where they are believed to have stashed a getaway vehicle, Rofidal said.

The men apparently entered the store about 30 minutes before the crime and said something about "not having any money," Rofidal said. They left the store and came back later and robbed it in "take over style," Rofidal said.

Nobody was hurt and no weapons were seen.

The two men were described as being about 5 feet 7 inches and wearing winter garb. One wore a Gophers stocking cap, black scarf and red plaid shirt and gloves, police said.

Police have few leads in the case except for surveillance photos and information provided by store employees, Rofidal said.

Police are looking into whether the heist is connected to a similar case in which two men robbed a CVS store earlier Monday near the University of Minnesota campus.

Anybody with information is asked to call Edina police at 952-826-1600.
