Fridley police are searching for a man and woman after a shot was fired as the pair checked out at Target Sunday afternoon.

Police said a man and woman entered Target, at 755 53rd Av., and were paying for snacks and a soda at 5:20 p.m. The pair chatted with the clerk, sharing that they were on a 12- to 15-hour road trip.

The man reached to adjust something on his ankle. Then a shot struck the floor. Police did not say whether the handgun was in an ankle holster or had fallen from a pocket.

The couple ran out of the store and fled in a red or maroon two-door vehicle. The man appeared to be limping as he left the store, but officers found no blood at the scene. No bystanders were injured.

Anyone with information should call Fridley police at 763-572-3629.
