Two former employees at a St. Paul elementary school are at the center of allegations of inappropriate conduct.

The St. Paul police are investigating the male employees, who worked at Linwood Monroe Arts Plus school's upper campus, which serves students in fourth through eighth grades.

In a letter Thursday to parents, Principal Bryan Bass addressed an accusation of undefined "inappropriate actions" by a custodian at the school. The school learned about the allegations on Feb. 20, Bass said in the letter.

"We did not previously share this information … due to student privacy laws and the ongoing police investigation," Bass wrote.

Four weeks ago, Bass sent a letter to parents about an accusation the week before of "inappropriate communications" by a teaching assistant. Bass said the school followed procedure and contacted the St. Paul police.

The teaching assistant, who had begun working for the school district Jan. 29, was terminated Feb. 11, said spokeswoman Toya Stewart Downey.
