St. Paul police identified the man killed over the weekend as Renaldo Terez McDaniel.
Police found McDaniel's body about 8 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of a business in the 400 block of N. Lexington Parkway near University Avenue.
McDaniel, 31, of St. Paul, had an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Department spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernster said Tuesday that the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made, and police have not disclosed a possible motive.
McDaniel is the city's ninth homicide this year.
