Richard Pitino soon will be looking for his third director of basketball operations since accepting the Gophers' head basketball job a little less than two months ago.
Steve Goodson plans to leave the University of Minnesota, a team source told the Star Tribune.
Goodson was previously on former coach Tubby Smith's staff as special assistant to the head coach before being hired by Pitino in April.
Pitino originally had hired Mike Balado, an assistant of his at Florida International in that role, but Balado left after getting an offer from FIU's new head coach, Anthony Evans. Balado eventually wound up being hired by Louisville as an assistant coach.
According to the source, Goodson will continue work at Minnesota for another two weeks before taking a new job at an undisclosed school.

• Gophers senior outfielder Troy Larson was named to the Capital One Academic All-America second team. Larson, of Oakdale, is a double major in genetics/cell biology and biochemistry with a 3.95 GPA.
• The Gophers' 2013 volleyball recruiting class was ranked No. 3 in the nation by Prep-Volleyball.com, behind only Nebraska and Southern California.
